The locals say that divers go to Malapascua for the Thresher Sharks but they leave remembering Gato. True enough, divers.ph went to Malapascua primarily to see a Thresher Shark.
We left not just a sighting of Thresher but we were also treated with Devil Rays. Gato Island has a lot of macro to offer. Sea horses, Reef Sharks, Spider Crabs and a lot more to be found in Gato Island.

Puerto Galera is another popular diving destination given its proximity to Manila. A 1.5-hr bus ride from Manila and another 1.5-2 hr ferry trip makes it an ideal weekend getaway from the city.
Puerto Galera is known for its exciting drift dives as current tends to pick-up. It is also known for its macro diving (muck diving). One of the admirable diving practice in the area is the no anchoring culture which aims to preserve and protect the life beneath.
